Welcome to an exciting meeting of Sheffield Council! On the first Wednesday of each month, in the city of Sheffield, 84 councillors assemble in the Town Hall. Presided over by the Lord Mayor, what unfolds over the course of an afternoon mixes theatrical display, angry debate, moments of comedy and serious drama. Filmed from the floor of the chamber and interspersed with interviews from leading participants, “Full Council” provides an unusually human glimpse into the rituals, processes and people that affect a city.

Co-directed by Richard Axelby and Shirley van der Maarel, Full Council was made as part of the ERC funded Ethnographies of Parliaments, Politicians and People project.
